Critical distinction
A dedicated seat remains committed according to the underlying allocation or membership policy even when its member is temporarily absent. A flexible seat can support reuse only where shifts are authorized and do not overlap in a way that creates simultaneous demand. Attendance records use; it does not silently rewrite commitment.

Keep the valid allocation and its effective period visible. A temporary absence may change attendance context, but it does not automatically convert a dedicated seat into flexible inventory.
Flexible / general seats
A flexible seat may support separate morning and evening assignments where the configured windows do not overlap. The summed assignments can exceed the flexible pool while peak simultaneous assignment remains bounded.
